    By the time you read this, you should have received your first paycheck for the fall semester.  Please note that there have been NO salary cuts, NO furloughs, and NO benefit cuts. This is a very positive picture compared with just about every other institution, both statewide and nationally.  This was not the result of some benevolent provider’s blessing; this was the result of your union’s strength within the community, and in recognition of the value of your work.

    Additionally, most of our Associate part-time faculty have preserved base loads, in many cases, only because the FA has worked numerous hours. Remember, we are one of very few districts with any employment provisions for part-time faculty in our contract.  Again, this contract provision did not drop from the sky, and enforcement of the provision takes more time than you can imagine.  That is what the FA has done for us recently.
