The President of the Association conducts the day-to-day affairs of the Association and serves as its spokesman. The Vice President serves as President in the President's absence and chairs the Professional Rights and Responsibilities (Grievance) Committee.

Full-Time Faculty Obligation

The California Code of Regulations (CCR), requires community college districts that are below 75% standard to increase their base number of full-time faculty over the prior year in proportion to the amount of growth funds received for credit FTES. The following chart shows SMC's Full-Time Faculty Obligation numbers:

Action item from Board of Trustees meeting, August 1, 2005:

It is recommended that the salary schedules for academic administrators (including Superintendent /President), classified administrators, classified managers and confidential employees be increased as follows: 2 percent effective January 1, 2005

3.5 percent effective January 1, 2006

Comment: This salary increase is parallel to the salary increases for employees represented by CSCA

Board of Trustees meeting agenda, September 7, 2005

Report on action taken in closed session, August 27, 2005 :

The Districts hereby extends the employment contract as the Interim Superintendent/President until the new Superintendent/President starts on duty or the 30 th day of June 2006, whichever is shorter. In the event the services as Interim Superintendent/President are completed prior to June 30, 2006 , the contract shall continue at the schedule salary until June 30, 2006 and the duties shall be as Deputy Superintendent. As hereinafter provided, the Board, at its option, may extend this agreement in accordance with the Education Code.
