Over the years course load factors ranged from as low as .5 up to 1.0, often lacking clarity, uniform standards or rational criteria by which they were assigned. During contract negotiations the Faculty Association discussed this issue and the District agreed to study, evaluate and make appropriate changes through a joint committee of Faculty Association and Administration representatives. the charge of the joint committee is to construct a systematic review of load factor criteria which will entail but not be limited to: definitions relevant to teaching and prep requirements, load factor placement on existing and future courses, and establishing procedures to inform, coordinate and implement agreed upon recommendation. The joint District/Association committee will present to the District and the Association its load report no later than the end of the Spring of 2002 semester.
