The President of the Association conducts the day-to-day affairs of the Association and serves as its spokesman. The Vice President serves as President in the President's absence and chairs the Professional Rights and Responsibilities (Grievance) Committee.

   1. Salary: (a) Increase the compressed steps spread from 25% of the normal step increment to 50% of the normal step increment for 2001-02, 75% of the normal step increment for 2002-03, and 100% of the normal step increment for 2003-04; (b) Increase the salary schedules by the COLA percentage approved and funded in each fiscal year from 2001-02 through 2003-04. The approved COLA for 2001-2001 is 3.87%. (c) In addition to the salary increase stated above, effective August 21, 2001, the district will allocate the total amount of money received from the State for part-time faculty compensation improvement as a percentage amount to be applied to the part-time faculty salary schedules.

   2. Medical/Dental/Vision: Benefits will continue under the existing terms of the current agreement for the period of 2001-02 through 2001-04. Hourly employees who are members of the unit, have been employed two previous semesters within the last six semesters, and as of Monday of the third week of the semester have teaching assignments of five hours or more per week for the semester, or as of Monday of the fifth week of the semester are assigned the equivalent of five hours or more per week of a non-teaching assignment shall be eligible to receive Kaiser medical insurance.

   3. Reassigned Time: Restores status quo ante to Fall 2000 (66 LHE per semester) for faculty leadership responsibilities and will include Academic Senate. Load increments to be provided during the initial semester for participation in special programs as defined by the schedule of classes. Load increments defined as an adjustment to full-time LHE.

   4. Class Size: Maximum class size for each course will be listed in Appendix H.

   5. Stipends: Stipends committee to meet at the beginning of each semester, current and future stipends to appear in Appendix R. Add evaluation of dual enrollment faculty stipend at $50 per visit.

   6. Load: joint committee to report at the end of Spring 2002.

   7. Hourly-Faculty Office Hours: Add all non-lab math courses. Lower WTH for participation from 6 to 5 WTH. Language on office hour pay clarified.

   8. Associate Faculty: Applies to part-time faculty. Grants one year contract. 5 semester requirement for eligibility; assignment retention from year to year.

   9. Fellowships: Up to 5 per year at $1,500 each.

  10. Calendar: Submission of grades extended to one calendar week following the last date of Fall, Spring and Intersession semesters.

  11. Grievance: Annotated grievance flow chart placed in contract.

  12. Hourly Faculty Office Hours: Transfer of unused sick leave, from other colleges, calculated as service credit for all faculty.

  13. Parking: Mutually agreed upon base number of 536 parking spaces to be placed in contract.

  14. Distance Education: Reopener at completion of Senate distance ed committee report.

At the December 3rd Board of Trustee's meeting the Board unanimously passed the above table agreement. The Faculty Association wishes to acknowledge the work and support given by all the parties involved in crafting this agreement. These parties included but are not limited to the Negotiation Team, the Negotiation Council, the District and faculty of Santa Monica College.
