The meeting was called to order at 11:20.

I. Approval of minutes was postponed until quorum was reached.

II. President’s Report-Lantz Simpson

A. Lantz reported that the May revised budget for the state of California contains an extra $22 million for
over the January budget community colleges. COLA will be 3.87 % and other money is provided for student access and part-time equity.

B. The fifty percent lawsuit is proceeding slowly. If no agreement is reached by June, 2001, the judge will order a trial date and/or mediation.

C. The budget committee of the college including district, Senate, and Faculty Association representatives is scheduled to meet the second Friday of every month.

III. Chief negotiator’s report-Robert Flores

The negotiating team will be meeting weekly with district representatives until the end of July (except during final exam week in June). The target date to reach a contract settle is August 20, 2001.

IV. A quorum was reached and the minutes of April 19 were approved unanimously.

V. CCCI meeting report-Ken Mason

Robert Moore from BOG was a speaker at the meeting and he presented a plan to change the funding policy for community colleges.
CCCI (California Community College Independents) dues will need to be raised since money is needed to purchase reassigned time from districts in order to have faculty available to work with the Chancellor’s office and other state level agencies. The organization is an important source of collective bargaining information and a newsletter is published twice a year.




VI. Election Results-Beverly Tholen

Beverly Tholen announced the following results: President, Lantz Simpson; Vice President, Ken Mason; Treasurer, Mitra Moassessi

VII. Approval of Summer,2001 reassigned time for Faculty Association officers and Executive Committee to work on 50% lawsuit, contract negotiations, and grievances
The following motion was presented by Richard Johncola and seconded by Chuck Nelson.

Reassigned time for summer 2001 shall be as follows:
President-Lantz Simpson-40%
Chief Negotiator-Robert Flores-20%
Vice President-Ken Mason-20%
Treasurer-Mitra Moassessi-20%
Negotiating Team Member-Martin Goldstein-20%

The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
