I. The minutes of February 28 and March 14, 2002 were unanimously approved. II. President's Report-Lantz Simpson A. The new parking structure is open but faculty spaces have not yet been designated. B. Budget Committee meeting-Tom Donner predicted that the district reserve funds will drop to $2.4 million this fiscal year. Such a drop would place SMC on the chancellor's "watch list" which would mean that the district would not be required to meet the goals for hiring full-time faculty for Fall, 2002. A district goes on the watch list when the reserves drop below 3% of total expenses. The Faculty Association is committed to preserving new full-time faculty hiring. III. Negotiations Report-Robert Flores A. The contract is finished, edited, signed and should be printed by next week. B. Negotiations continue on the subjects of part-time office hours, load factors, and staff parking (including the possibility of one all staff parking lot.). IV. Motion from the Executive Committee-Reassigned time The Executive Committee moves that the following reassigned time be provided to Faculty Association officers and committee chairs for the Summer and Fall of 2002. Summer 2002 - President-20% Vice President-40% Fall 2002 - President - 80% Vice President-80% Chief Negotiator-40% 2 Negotiating team members-40% Webmaster-20% Hourly/Newsletter-20% The motion was approved unanimously. V. Elections-Beverly Tholen The following nominations were made from the floor. President-Lantz Simpson Vice President- Ken Mason Chief Negotiator-Robert Flores Secretary-Ann Maddox Ballots will be in the mailboxes on April 25 and must be returned by May 3 at noon. VI.
