I. President's Report

  1. Andrew Walzer spoke of his candidacy for the SMC Board of Trustees.
  2. The summer partnership with Compton College is moving forward. The Board of Trustees will meet June 5 to approve the agreement. Compton College 's summer school FTE's will be paid to SMC.

•  Lantz anticipates that the MOU regarding duties and compensation for SMC faculty performing partnership work with Compton College will be ready for Executive Committee approval next week.

  1. Ken Mason has resigned as Political Director.

  2. Motion that Martin Goldstein fill the position of political director; this summer, Tracey Ellis will assist him (M/S Padilla/Curtis). Unanimously approved.

II. Approval of Reassigned Time for Summer and Fall 2006

a. The Assembly voted unanimously to approve the following reassigned time:

III. Negotiations Report: Mitra reported that there is a June 14 session with the state-appointed mediator.

 

IV. Motion from the Executive Committee on Work to Contract

•  Definition of work to contract was distributed; also published in the FAB

•  The Executive Committee recommends that the Assembly adopt the Work-To-Contract recommendation part #2 (“teach right-size classes”) and that we begin in summer. Part #1 may be pursued later. Passed unanimously.

V. Endorsement of Julia Brownley

•  The Executive Committee recommends that the Representative Assembly endorse Julia Brownley for 41 st Assembly District. Passed unanimously.

•  Motion: (M/S Tahvildaran/Curtis) Assembly suggests that the PAC donate $1000 towards her campaign. Passed with one absention and one opposed.

•  The PAC Board will meet this afternoon to act on the motion.

 

VI. Election Committee Report : Kym McBride reported that Kathy Sucher was elected FA secretary and Assembly results will be posted once the write-ins have been notified.

 

VII. Benefits Committee Report : Mitra reported for Sandi Burnett. Options are being discussed with various vendors. It has been suggested that the College be audited to make sure that those now receiving benefits are in fact eligible.

 

VIII. For the Good of the Order : Andrew Walzer asked that we get out and work for the Brownley campaign this weekend
