There will be a Santa Monica College Faculty Association PAC meeting this afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in LV6. The members of the PAC are encouraged to attend and vote on campaign donations for College Board candidates. VI. Negotiations Report-Robert Flores Mr. Flores began by reminding both old and new members of our good fortune in having a three year contract in this period of tight state and college budget when other college unions are fighting for every penny. It would not be a good time to be negotiating. Some pending issues remained to be cleared up, and negotiations continue on reassigned time for chairs of Business and Computer Science and teaching loads for some disciplines. Memoranda of Understanding have been issued to provide a $250 stipend for Distance Education teachers who need to install a high speed computer line at home and also for the right to retroactively add education credit for salary purposes if it was forgotten when the person was hired. VII. Budget Committee Report In May and June, Mr. Donner had reported that there would be zero balance in the budget for 2001-02. However, by the end of August final budget report, the figures showed a $2 million surplus. The 2002-03 budget shows a reserve of $600,000. At the beginning of this school year, the administration had asked for 30% across the board cuts in departmental budgets. No cut in administration was proposed. VIII. For the Good of the Order The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Ann Maddox Recording Secretary
