I. Approval of the minutes:  February 27, 2003, April 3, 2003, June 5, 2003, and September 4, 2003

The Assembly unanimously approved the minutes from the previous meetings.

II. President's Report-Lantz Simpson

     A. At present in CSEA-District negotiations, the district retains the right to lay off classified staff as they decide, and CSEA team refuses to agree to  do workshare without the promise of limited  lay-offs in the near future.  Eighteen classified positions have been abolished to date.

     B. Mitra Moassessi reported on the methods the district uses to hide approximately 3 million dollars by transferring money back and forth between category 03 and category 01 funds.  The purpose of this is probably to create the picture of low reserves in order to avoid being required to hire more full time faculty members to meet the 75% law.

III.  Approval of Executive Committee Appointments

The following people were elected to at-large membership on the Executive Committee:  Jim Martin, Kym McBride and David Zehr.  Approval was passed by acclamation.

IV.  Dennis Frisch proposed and Kym McBride seconded a motion to appoint Suzanne MacDonald as counseling department to replace absent representatives.  The motion was passed unanimously.

V. Appointment of Co chair for Job Action Task Force

The President appointed Richard Tavildarein-Jesswein to co-chair the Job Action Task Force with Kenneth Mason.  Mr. Mason will return to campus at the beginning of November.

VI. The meeting was adjourned at 12:15 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Maddox, Recording Secretary
