•  President's Report – Lantz Simpson

-Lantz reported a 19:1 rejection by the faculty of the District's most recent contract proposal in the advisory vote.

-Dr. Chui Tsang was selected as the next president of SMC. Lantz has written him a letter and invited him to come down to meet with the Association officers before he assumes office. He's also invited to our upcoming fundraiser. He is confirmed to attend Tom Donner's holiday party on Sunday, December 11.

 

•  Approval of Minutes, November 17, 2005 – postponed until the next meeting.

 

•  Approval of Faculty Association 2005-6 Budget

MOTION: The Representative Assembly approves the budget as presented. M/S: Chandler/Zehr. Passed unanimously.

 

•  Approval of Faculty Association reassigned time

MOTION: The Representative Assembly approves the Association Reassigned Time as presented. M/S: Pacchioli/Padilla. Passed unanimously.

 

•  Negotiating Report – Mitra Moassessi

-Mitra is not optimistic that we can get any settlement before the new College President is installed.

-The Negotiating Team will meet with the District negotiators on December 19.

-The Budget Committee met yesterday to establish the committee's role in drafting the budget. In the most optimistic view, the committee would adopt the system utilized at LACCD.

 

VI. Membership Committee Report – Maria Alvarado

Maria encouraged people to attend the fundraiser Saturday. Ken Mason reminded us of how much progress we've made in raising our profile in the city of Santa Monica and in the state.
