Instructions for using the August, 2009 Paycheck Validator Background: If you are a 12-pay full-time faculty member on steps 8 and higher, the District processed August, 2009 payroll using the wrong salary schedule, resulting in underpayment of your paycheck. The amount of the underpayment varies depending on where you fall on salary schedule A-1 or A-4 for Department Chairs or A-5 for Coordinators. Faculty paid tenthly were not affected, as August is one of those months when they do not receive a paycheck. If you are unsure of your step or group, please contact Human Resources. Directions: 1. Download the Validator Spreadsheet by clicking here. 2. At the dialog box that offers the choice of Open With Excel or Save As, please choose Open With Excel to open the Validator Spreadsheet. 3. From your August, 2009 paycheck, identify your gross amount earned, as shown from the sample paycheck below. 4. Enter this number into the spreadsheet cell E-9 labelled “Enter Your August, 2009 Gross Pay”, as shown below. 5. Hit Return. 6. If you were affected by this District error, the Validator Spreadsheet will calculate what your correct August, 2009 should have been. The Validator Spreadsheet will then calculate your adjusted September, 2009 pay which corrects your prior month’s underpayment. Moving forward, your October, 2009 pay should match your correct August, 2009 amount. The Faculty Association will continue to monitor this situation to ensure that all underpayments get rectified promptly and correctly.
