The District and the Faculty Association have met and negotiated concerning the establishment of new academic departments.  As a result of these negotiations, the District and the Faculty Association agree to the following modifications and/or additions to Article 22- Department Chairs:

1.         Reassigned Time:         

            Art-                                                      7.5 LHE

            Athletics-                                              3.0 LHE

            Education and Public Affairs-                4.5 LHE

            History-                                                6.0 LHE

            Kinesiology/Dance/Recreation- 6.0 LHE

            Photography and Fashion                      6.0 LHE

            Psychology                                           6.0 LHE

            Social Sciences                         6.0 LHE

These changes to Article 22.1.1 become effective on June 24, 2002 for the chairs of the above departments.

2.         Department Chair Stipends:

The following modifications to Section 22.1.3 are effective as of the beginning of the Fall 2002 semester: 

Chairs of the Art, Social Sciences departments will receive the following additional stipend amounts for the Fall 2002, Spring 2003, Fall 2003 and Spring 2004 semesters:  Art- $584 and Social Sciences- $1167.   In accordance with Article 22.1.1 of the contract, these department chairs shall use these stipend increases to purchase additional reassigned time to make their total reassigned time for these semesters equal to that allocated for the chairs of the Art and Social Sciences departments.  These stipend amounts will not become part of the department chair stipend pool.  This additional allocation will "sunset" with the expiration of the current contract on August 20, 2004.

The stipend base for the new departments shall be as follows:  Athletics- $1060; Computer Science and Information Systems- $1,765; Education and Public Affairs- $1,060  History-$1,236 and Photography and Fashion- $1,060.  The resulting annual stipend pool is $101,416. 

The following departments "F" factor will be established as follows:  Athletics-  0; Computer Science and Information Systems 40; Education and Public Affairs- 10; History-0 and Photography and Fashion- 40.

 

The modifications to  Article 22.1.2 become effective on June 24, 2002.  The modifications to Article 22.1.3 become effective with the beginning of the Fall 2002 semester.

The changes to Article 22, Department Chairs, is to run the term of the contract, i.e. through August 20, 2004. 

A joint committee composed of District, Faculty Association and Department Chair representatives will convene for the purpose of assessing and developing criteria for determining reassigned time and stipends for department chairs.  At the end of the Spring 2004, this committee will make its recommendations to the District and the Faculty Association negotiating teams.

The District and the Faculty Association hereby acknowledge that issues concerning reassigned time for the Business and Computer Science and Information Systems departments remain unresolved.
