MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING REGARDING CORRECTION OF HOURLY STEP ADVANCEMENT ON SALARY SCHEDULES B-2, B-3 and B-4 3/15/06 The intent of this MOU is to correct errors made regarding individual hourly faculty step advancement. The following semesters were not counted toward step advancement: Spring 1988 and Fall 1998. Hourly faculty were incorrectly credited for step advancement for the following intersessions: Summer 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1999, Winter 1999, 2000 and 2001. The District and Faculty Association agree to the following plan of correction for the hourly step advancement salary schedules. • The district will update all active hourly faculty to reflect credited hours based on the correct step advancement calculation as of January 2006. • Faculty placed on a higher step as a result of the corrected calculation will be advanced two step levels beyond their January 2006 step placement. Beginning Winter 2006, faculty will be paid based upon their adjusted step placement. After the January 2006 adjustment, faculty will advance when they qualify to do so. • As a result of this correction no faculty member will be adjusted to a lower step. Faculty members that should have been adjusted to a lower step as a result of the corrected calculation will not advance until they qualify to do so. • No faculty member will be required to pay back any salary to the District as a result of the error made on the hourly step advancement. • These provisions are applicable only to those individual faculty members identified in Appendix A of this Memorandum of Understanding. • Any other errors, corrections or issues arising from the conditions described in the preamble will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. ________________________ __________________________ For the District Date For the Faculty Association Date
