As a result of the passage of Assembly Bill 591, Section 87482.5 of the Education Code is amended to read:

"87482.5. (a) Notwithstanding any other law, a person who is employed to teach adult or community college classes for not more than 67 percent of the hours per week considered a full-time assignment for regular employees having comparable duties shall be classified as a temporary employee, and shall not become a contract employee under Section 87604."

Therefore, the District and the Faculty Association agree as follows to be effective January 1, 2009:

1. 67% Provision:  The provisions under Article 6.5.1 shall changed as follows: “General Provisions: Part-time faculty are Classroom and/or Non-classroom faculty who are hired under the provisions of Education Code 87482 et al.  Part-time faculty assignments may not exceed 60% 67% of a full-time assignment.”

2. The Parties will meet and confer to review the effects of this change during Fall, 2009.
